VRANJE, 24.07.2018. – Two Serbian journalists’ organizations on Tuesday condemned the latest attack on journalists working for the Info Vranjske portal.

A reporter and cameraman working for the portal in southern Serbia were threatened by two drivers from the Vranje town waterworks while covering a story reported to them by local residents who had clashed with the waterworks crew.

The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) called the local authorities in Vranje to change their attitude towards the media. “NUNS supports the request by the Info Vranjske desk to allow them to do their job and calls the local authorities in Vranje to behave responsibly, transparently and without discrimination towards journalists from that and any other media,” a statement said.

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) also condemned the threats, demanding that the authorities punish the perpetrators.   “Everyone has the right to be dissatisfied with how journalists do their job but that dissatisfaction must not be expressed through insults and threats,” a statement said.
