SKOPJE, 07.08.2017 – The Agency for Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services (AVMU) informed that it has began its pre-election monitoring of electronic media outlets. The municipal elections are set for October 15th.

AVMU said that it has informed all broadcasters about their obligation to respect the Electoral Code, which calls for balanced reporting on the various political parties that will submit candidates for the elections.

The agency will publish reports on whether broadcasters respected the law every 10 days. Broadcasters also need to determine prices for their ad space, which will be offered to all parties.

Since yesterday, when the date of the local elections was announced, the five-day deadline for the TV and Radio stations that will broadcast the paid political advertising during the election campaign, started counting. Within this deadline these TV and radio stations are obliged to determine and submit their price lists to the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services.
