Journalist of the economic section of Danas, Gojko Vlaovic, stated that he commented privately on a Facebook post on the profile of his Facebook friend, not as a journalist. After a few of his comments, he was addressed by a person who, while listing several newspapers in Serbia, especially emphasized the newspaper Danas as “auto-chauvinistic garbage”. He warned the person not to harass and target him and that if he continued he would report him to the authorities. Vlaovic then stated that the same commentator who was a male person said that Danas is ‘garbage’ that ‘should be set on fire and burn to the ground’. “You have done more harm to Serbia than all the enemies combined,” he added. He said that “that garbage”, thinking of Danas, would be burned “sometime” and that all employees would go “to long-term imprisonment”. He ended with: ‘Remember that well on June 27, on the eve of Vidovdan. Ass***e! ‘ After that, another participant joined the conversation, slandering Danas and insulting him with disgusting expressions: “with accusations that ‘I work for the appanage for other people’s interests, not Serbian ones.” Vlaovic added: “He also pointed out that ‘only a sick person can be a journalist in Serbia, where the media are mostly on Vucic’s side, and the rest is under the control of a foreign agency.”
