BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elemedin Konaković, who is also the president of the Narodna i Pravde (NiP) party, attacked two public media services in Sarajevo – BHRT and FRTV of the Federation of BiH. At the press conference, held on February 9 in Sarajevo, Konaković announced that he would solve the crisis in the functioning of public services in Bosnia and Herzegovina only when his party and the ruling coalition “Trojka” had “made their compromise” in these media.
The BHJA management board evaluated this attack as a political attack on the independence of the JMS in BiH. Also, the BHJA Steering Committee drew attention to the fact that Elmedin Konaković, as a public official, has been attacking and targeting journalists for years and questioning their safety and dignified work, using political manipulations and institutional pressures.
The BHJA Steering Committee called on the Delegation of the European Union and all other international actors in BiH not to allow political attacks and interference in the work of the media in BiH, especially public media services.
