Shortly after the Klimatski portal (Climate Portal) began operating (March 20, 2024), it became the target of a smear campaign.
- On March 23, the Liberal.hr portal published a blog by Mario Nakić in which it sought to discredit the Klimatski portal, claiming that it was financed by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. The article called on readers to sanction the ruling coalition in the parliamentary elections for allegedly financing the Klimatski portal.
- On March 24, the “Most” MP, Marin Miletić, shared a video on his personal X account in which he criticized the Klimatski portal. In the post, he repeated Nakić’s claims that Prime Minister Plenković was financing the Klimatski portal, and described the editor-in-chief of Faktograf, Petar Vidov, as an advocate of censorship and a stifler of civil liberties and rights during the pandemic.
- On April 3, 2024, Narod.hr published an article titled “Faktograf discovers new business niche: With the help of the state, It controls what is written about the climate”, continuing the discrediting narrative that began at the end of March.
