Podgorica gets local radio and television

PODGORICA, 25.05.2020. – A new radio television – RTV Podgorica – could soon be found on the Montenegrin media map. The Podgorica authorities have made a personnel plan, financial construction, as well as program orientation. Local radio and television will also have its own portal.

Radio Television Podgorica will have 46 employees, and according to the data of the Capital, ten journalists and seven presenters will work on the new television, radio and internet portal, while the rest are administrative workers, director, editor-in-chief of media services. This is stated in the information on the key elements of the establishment of the local public broadcaster Radio Television Podgorica, which was prepared by the local authorities.

The future television will produce informative, political-economic program, entertainment, documentary-cultural, sports and children’s programs, and the functioning of Radio Podgorica and the internet portal will be connected to television.

According to the Capital’s estimate, 734,000 euros will be needed annually to finance the city’s television.

“This data covers the first 12 months of the public broadcaster, not counting the amount of 130,000 euros that, according to the analysis, needs to be invested in the procurement of technical equipment”, it is said in the information on key elements of establishing the local public broadcaster Radio Television Podgorica.

The document states that the founders’ transfers are projected at 477,000 euros, they expect 220,000 euros from marketing and other own revenues, and 37,000 euros from international projects and donations.

By registering this local public broadcaster, there will be a total of 15 in Montenegro. So far, the following have been registered: Radio Andrijevica, Radio Berane, Radio Bijelo Polje, Radio and Television Budva, Radio Cetinje, Radio Danilovgrad, Radio and Television Herceg Novi, Radio Kotor, Radio and Television Nikšić, Radio Tivat, Radio Ulcinj, Radio Bar, Radio and Television Rožaje and Television Pljevlja.
