On January 17, 2017 an e-mail was sent to numerous Croatian Radio Television (HRT) addresses as well as to other addresses. The letter was signed by a „Dubravko Jošić, captain of the Croatian Army Forces“. It was full of brutal slanders and defamations against Jagoda Bastalić. These monstrous lies had one clear goal – to discredit Jagoda Bastalić as a person and journalist. Those lies are not only monstrous but very dangerous: the author stated that Jagoda Bastalić worked as editor for so called Radio Okučani Srpska Krajina (Chetnik radio) during Serb occupation of that part of Croatia, that her father was high official in aggressor’s Yugoslav Army and her brother Saša Bastalić soldier in aggressor’s army.” Several web portals, known for their dissemination of hate, published the letter and Jagoda Bastalić started receiving threats and offensive letters after that. She failed suit against Dubravko Jošić for hate crime.
