On July 28, journalist of the daily Vijesti, Jelena Jovanovic, in response to the published text, received a letter signed by detainee Mario Milosevic, through his lawyer Natalija Karadzic. The lawyer sent an e-mail to the official e-mail address of the journalist and the editorial office where she works, which she called a denial, in which the suspect in the two murders states where the journalist lives, insinuating that Jovanovic is paying off the apartment by writing texts about him. The journalist, who is a witness to the murder for which the prosecution suspects Milosevic, interpreted the allegations as serious threats and an attempt to intimidate and discredit her because the information about where she lives is not public.
Journalist Jovanovic filed criminal charges against Milosevic and his lawyer, for endangering security.
In November 2021, Basic State Prosecutor Ivana Petrusic Vuksevic dismissed the criminal complaint.
According to the decision, the prosecutor, by analyzing the entire case file, assessed that there is no grounded suspicion that Milosevic and Karadzic committed any criminal offense for which they are being prosecuted ex officio.
