Maja Sever, a journalist and the President of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) as well as the leader of the Trade Union of Croatian Journalists (TUCJ), received numerous threats and insults on the social media platform X. The threats and insults followed Sever’s tweet announcing the EFJ’s decision to stop posting content on the X platform as of 20 January 2025: “The @efjeurope account will be frozen as of 20 January 2025. We can no longer participate in feeding the social network of a man who proclaims the death of the media and therefore of journalists.”
