In the Belgrade City Assembly on November 27, 2024, City Council member Slobodan Šolević physically and verbally attacked Danas journalist Vojin Radovanović, got in his face, cursed his mother and threatened to “break his p….”.
On that day, Radovanović was on a work assignment to report from the session of the Belgrade City Assembly. He noticed the entrance of the president of the Association of Families of Kidnapped, Missing and Murdered in Kosovo and Metohija, Simo Spasić, into the assembly building. With his phone, he started recording Spasić who was shouting into the megaphone, resisting the demands of security and refusing to leave the building.
While Radovanović was filming, councilor Šolević appeared in the frame, who then asked the journalist if Spasić needed a video and that’s why he was filming. Radovanović explained that the journalist is on assignment and doing his job
Šolević demanded that Radovanović delete the recording, and when the journalist did not do so, the member of the city council began to threaten him.
The physical attack was reported to the competent First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade.
