The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) has expressed concern and condemned the attack on TV Syri Vision in Gjakova, where, just minutes after midnight, an individual entered the television station’s premises with a heavy vehicle, causing significant damage to the newsroom and surrounding property.

AJK considers this a threat to the security of the media and freedom of expression, particularly on such an important day for the country’s democratic process. Attacks on the media are unacceptable and represent attempts to intimidate journalists and hinder their work.

The Kosovo Police have arrested the perpetrator of the attack, but the official report does not specify that the vehicle used in the attack was part of the city’s heating system and was not registered. AJK urges law enforcement to handle the case with the highest professionalism and to ensure a safe environment for journalists and the media in the country.
