After a employee assembly was held at Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), at least five colleagues from the public broadcaster were invited for informative interviews by the Security Information Agency (BIA). The RTS staff assembly took place on April 16 at 1:30 PM in the parking lot of the broadcaster’s building, with more than 50 employees in attendance.

It is particularly concerning that among those summoned are individuals affiliated with the informal group of RTS employees called “Naš pRoTeSt,” which advocates for greater professional accountability and freedom of expression within the public broadcaster.

Calling employees in for informational interviews due to legitimate and peaceful expression of opinion raises serious concerns about pressure on freedom of expression and the right to union organizing.

Media workers, like all citizens, can only be summoned for informational interviews in accordance with legal procedures and with a clear explanation of the reason for the summons. Any deviation from this may constitute a form of intimidation or an attempt to exert pressure—especially if it is connected to their professional work, union activities, or public statements.
