At the session of the Council for National Minorities of the Republic of Croatia, held on April 24 in Zagreb, decisions were made on the allocation of funds for national minority programs for 2025. Although the total budget was increased to 11 million euros (13.3% more than last year), Novosti faced a significant cut – 210,000 euros less than last year’s 610,000 euros, leaving them with 400,000 euros for this year.

The Homeland Movement (Domovinski pokret) had repeatedly called for a reduction or complete withdrawal of funding for Novosti, both in public statements during the election campaign and through headlines in some of the country’s most widely read media. This decision by the Council now appears to reflect the political pressure they had been exerting.
