PRISTINA, 08.09.2020 – Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK), has accepted with concern the news about the threats towards the journalist and director of RTV Dukagjini, Ermal Panduri.
Panduri has announced that he was threatened with his life by various people on social networks. He made this known through a post on Facebook.
“This man is threatening my life, he is insulting my whole family. There are many like him, but the good ones are more”, wrote Panduri.
Threats and hate speech on social networks towards journalists are becoming more frequent and more serious.
The threats and insults that Panduri has received are unacceptable for AJK. Therefore, we call on the competent authorities to deal with this case as soon as possible so that the intimidators are brought to justice.
Association of Journalists of Kosovo estimates that such threats seriously violate freedom of expression and endanger the climate of journalism in Kosovo.
AJK calls on our colleagues to report cases of threats to the Kosovo Police.
