Albanian Parliament Elects the Steering Council of RTSH

On March 17, the Albanian Parliament elected 11 new members of the RTSH Steering Council in the last parliamentary session of this legislature. Fatjon Hoxhalli was elected chairman with 74 votes, defeating Helidon Haliti. The most voted members were Osman Mula (84 votes), Pano Xhixho (82 votes), Rajmonda Bulku (78 votes), Zamira Kita (77 votes), and Bujar Kapexhiu (72 votes).

Previously, the Parliament had decided to dissolve the existing Steering Council following controversies over the selection process for the RTSH General Director, where three out of five candidates were disqualified for not meeting the criteria. The process was marked by disputes, including an online vote cast by a member from Vietnam. After the resignation of two members and ongoing allegations of irregularities, Parliament decided to dismiss all members of the Steering Council, including Chairman Leka Bungo.
