    The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has completed its investigation and sent the suspected perpetrator of the attack on journalist Gjergj Zefi to trial. The suspect, identified by the initials R.B., is accused of the criminal offense of "Assault due to duty." “In the framework of the criminal proceedings No. 6833, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office concluded that R.B., in collaboration with other unidentified individuals, committed this offense against Gj.Z., the administrator of the online portal ‘Pamfleti,’” stated the prosecution.

Today, on October 10, 2023, in Tirana’s “Bardhok Biba” street, unidentified individuals viciously assaulted journalist Gjergj Zefi by striking him with blunt objects.

Gjergj Zefi, a 52-year-old journalist, is the administrator of the news portal called Pamfleti.

Upon receiving the notification, the General Directory of State Police initiated a thorough investigation, under the guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office, to ascertain the details of the incident and apprehend those responsible.

The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has completed its investigation and sent the suspected perpetrator of the attack on journalist Gjergj Zefi to trial. The suspect, identified by the initials R.B., is accused of the criminal offense of “Assault due to duty.”

“In the framework of the criminal proceedings No. 6833, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office concluded that R.B., in collaboration with other unidentified individuals, committed this offense against Gj.Z., the administrator of the online portal ‘Pamfleti,’” stated the prosecution.

According to the case file, the journalist was admitted to the Trauma Hospital after being struck from behind. In his statements, he said he could not remember what had happened. Medical examinations revealed injuries to his head, arm, lower lip, and both legs.
