Students and citizens gathered in front of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education to prevent Dean Patrik Drid “from attempting to break through the blockade of the faculty.” During the incident, police used force, and Zarko Bogosavljevic, a journalist from the Razglas-news portal who was wearing a PRESS vest, was among the citizens and students beaten by the police. Bogosavljevic told the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) that it was unclear what prompted the police intervention, as none of the gathered citizens had attempted to retaliate up to that point. He stated: “In my opinion, their use of force was inappropriate. When the pushing started, I was sprayed with pepper spray, along with dozens of others. I was also hit twice — once with a baton, once with a shield — and shoved. During the second intervention, at the side entrance, one member of the intervention unit struck me with a shield.”
