At the end of March 2024, journalist Žana Kovačević reported on security attacks, surveillance and shaming through publicly published posters in the settlement where she lives – Municipality of Istočna Ilidža. Unknown persons printed a poster with her picture and offensive messages, distributed posters in her building, the street where she lives, in shopping centers, etc. Also, on April 9, 2024, her private car was damaged in a public garage in Sarajevo.
FMHL immediately notified the police and the competent prosecutor’s offices in Sarajevo and Eastern Sarajevo about this case, requesting an investigation and taking legal measures. After the investigation, the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office Sarajevo reported that it could not determine whether this case had anything to do with the journalist’s work or the journalist’s private life.
