The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) is concerned about developments related to the launch of the campaign for the Parliamentary Elections on February 9.
The ruling party, Vetëvendosje, has announced a boycott of several major television stations in the country, including Klan Kosova, TV Dukagjini, and T7. This move goes against transparency and undermines the role of journalists and media in holding the party accountable for its policies after leading Kosovo for four years.
We call on Vetëvendosje to reconsider its position and ensure equal access for the media during the campaign.
Media outlets must be allowed to fairly present the programs of all competing political entities, as their work serves the public interest. The announced boycott is a deliberate attack on Kosovo’s media pluralism and continues a series of actions by this government and Vetëvendosje against journalists and the media in Kosovo.
