The Association of Journalists of Kosovo is alarmed by the death threat made against journalist and founder of “Nacionale”, Berat Buzhala.
He has published a message that he received on Facebook from a citizen who wrote: “I’m giving you the Albanian pledge that I will kill you and some of your kind, you should know that your days are numbered, you have regards not only from me but from the Kosovan people”.
This is a very serious threat that endangers the safety of Buzhala and the media where he works, and AJK calls on the Kosovo Police to seriously and urgently examine the case and hold accountable the person in question.
The AJK sees with great concern the continued spread of hate speech and lynching against journalists, which comes mostly from government officials and the ruling party.
AJK calls on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to stop the lynching language towards journalists and media in Kosovo, and for other officials of his party to do the same.
