Predrag Veljić, one of the accused members of the criminal organization of indicted cigarette smuggler Aleksandar Mrkić, threatened Libertas’ photojournalist Savo Prelević ahead of a trial at the High Court in Podgorica.
“Look, idiot, take my picture and I’ll smash that thing over your head. Did you hear me…?” Veljić told to Prelević, displeased with being photographed.
The Libertas portal reports that Veljić continued to insult Prelević, calling him derogatory names before entering the courtroom.
Following the incident, Veljić was arrested and he admitted that he uttered insults and threats, but he claimed that they were not directed only at Prelević, but at all journalists. After questioning, he was released to defend himself from custody.
The Misdemeanor Court fined Veljić 1.000 euros, plus the court costs, for threats and insults he directed at Prelević.
