An N1 reporter had her phone snatched by an unidentified young man during the ongoing student protests at the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in the city of Novi Sad.
Students participating in the blockade warned reporter Lea Apro about individuals inside the building who they believe are there to provoke incidents.
According to the students, they recognized one such person who was filming the reporter with his phone while opposing the blockade. When Apro approached to question him about the filming, he reportedly covered his face and refused to answer, then grabbed her phone and passed it to another individual. The phone was returned after a brief confrontation.
Following this incident, several young men surrounded the N1 news crew, insisting the blockades were not political and questioning how long the journalists planned to remain in the building. When Apro identified herself as a journalist doing her job and asked about the man who took her phone, the group claimed not to know him.
Some of these individuals in the FTN building were previously involved in blocking the Faculty of Philosophy in March over allegations of hate speech by Professor Dinko Gruhonjic. Among them was Damjan Vakanjac, a student pro-rector known for attending ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) rallies in Novi Sad, who has been filming protesting students and demanding their identification.
