The network SafeJournalists, whose members are the Independent Journalists Association of Serbia, Association of BH Journalists, Croatian Journalists Association, Association of Journalists of Kosovo, Association of Journalists of Macedonia and the Trade Union of Media of Montenegro, announces a call for proposals for financial assistance (small grants) for civil society organisations in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo*.
This call is announced in the framework of the project “safejournalists.net” aimed to encourage and enable citizen participation in advocating and decision-making for the purpose of improving the safety of journalists and media freedom.
The Support programme (small grants) “safejournalists.net” is designed to strengthen the role of CSOs in activities with authorities and citizens as relevant actors in the decision-making process. This approach has two benefits: it will strengthen the Safejournalists network’s efforts to expand the circle of advocates to improve the protection of the safety of journalists and media freedoms.
The overall goal of the call for proposals is to enable local civil society organisations to use innovative and experimental approaches for the purpose of mobilisation and empowerment, to bring the importance of the safety of journalists and protection of media freedoms closer to the citizens and stimulate them to create and participate in various platforms for dialogue.
The requested grant must be between 6,850 and 8,200 euros. Co-financing of the project by the project applicant (or partner) is not mandatory.
The duration of the project must be between 9 and 12 months.
The application process includes two steps:
- Submission, evaluation and selection of Project Concept note (open call)
- Submission, evaluation and selection process of Complete Project Proposals (closed call)
The deadline for submittion of the project concepts is November 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. (CET).
