Pobjeda journalist Ana Raičković has filed a police report regarding comments published on the portal Aktuelno, whose co-owner, businessman Zoran Bećirović, has been in custody since November 10 last year for assaulting her and members of her family.
According to Pobjeda, this is the second report Raičković has filed due to targeting by unknown individuals and offensive comments published by this portal. She stated that these comments follow the same narrative that Bećirović himself presents in court proceedings before the Basic Court in Podgorica.
In her report, Raičković noted that under an article—typically unsigned and full of falsehoods—titled “Suspicious Motives and Prosecutorial Oversights: Bećirović and Mijatović’s Custody Turned into Punishment Before Verdict”, the portal published content alleging that she is a “special operative” of an organized criminal government tasked with eliminating Bećirović from the business world and life in general.
Additionally, some comments claim that the prosecution and judiciary are an extended arm of justice, acting with increasing intensity across Montenegro.
One of the comments on the portal states:
“Horrific murders in Cetinje, beatings across Montenegro, organized assassinations, and acquittals for perpetrators of both ordinary and fatal crimes indicate that Mr. Bećirović is in grave danger due to the actions of Montenegro’s organized criminal government.”
Details of the Attack
Raičković was attacked on November 10, 2024, in front of the restaurant Gurman together with her son Uroš Gagović and fiancé Tomo Arapović. She was insulted, threatened, dragged out of her car, strangled, pulled by her hair, and had her car window smashed.
During the trial held on January 31, the accused denied guilt, claiming they “never laid a finger” on Raičković or her family members, nor insulted or threatened them.
Zoran and Luka Bećirović, along with Mijatović, were arrested on November 10, while Dukić was arrested two days later. Zoran Bećirović and Mijatović were placed in custody, while Luka Bećirović and Dukić were released to defend themselves from freedom after prosecutorial detention.
The accused face charges of violent behavior, carrying a potential prison sentence of up to five years.
Bećirović, in his defense, stated that he never threatened or insulted Raičković, had never seen her before, and did not physically assault her.
On the other hand, at the hearing on February 6, Raičković provided a detailed account of the attack, explaining that she was first subjected to vile insults and threats before being physically assaulted along with her family members.
Surveillance footage from a nearby building near Gurman, which was thoroughly analyzed in court, clearly showed that Raičković suffered violence at the hands of the attackers. Additionally, forensic medical expert Krsto Nikolić confirmed that the Pobjeda journalist sustained injuries to her neck and the back of her left hand, ranging from moderate to severe intensity.
The trial continues on March 19.
