The verdict was delivered after only one hearing, and under the new law, he was charged with committing a criminal offense against public order – coercion against a person performing duties of public interest or in public service. At the hearing held on September 15, 2022, the attacker expressed remorse, admitted guilt, and promised not to repeat such behavior, stating that he reacted impulsively and instinctively. According to the indictment, he initially insulted journalists from the balcony of his family home, who were gathered in front of the church in Sirobuja, raising his hands and showing them the middle finger. This behavior was recorded by the N1 television camerawoman.

On April 12, during the morning Easter Mass at the church in Sirobuja (Split, Croatia) an N1 television cameraman Ivana Sivro was attacked in front of the church. An incident was recorded by the camera and the footage shows a man driving his vehicle toward a cameraman, slowing down and hitting her camera with his hand.
