At the beginning of April, Večernji list journalist Hassan Haidar Diab, after writing an article about the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, received threats, and now Matvej Sidorov, the former media adviser of the Russian ambassador to Croatia, addressed him in the same arrogant tone. Sidorov reacted to the publication of threats to Haidar Diab through the Telegram application and wrote, among other things: “Hey, greetings Hassan, great article again! But it’s not very current. Why didn’t you publish it while we were in Zagreb?” “That message of his and the words ‘another great article’ are the same as what he told me in the phone conversation when he said that I have two great articles to translate and send to Kadyrov,” said Haidar Diab. To the journalist’s question about whether it was a direct threat, Sidorov replied that he was only conveying the message of Secretary Sergei Trofimov and that the journalist could understand it however he wanted.
