The Basic Court in Podgorica today sentenced Goran Mićković to five months in prison for attacking RTCG journalist Dušanka Pejović.

In the verdict delivered by Judge Dragana Lubarda, it is stated that the time Mićković spent in detention will be counted toward his sentence.

Mićković was found guilty of the criminal offense of endangering safety. Since it was not established during the proceedings that the attack was motivated by Pejović’s journalistic work, that part of the indictment was dismissed.

On March 9, Pejović reported to the police that an unknown man had verbally abused and threatened her in front of her apartment in Podgorica.

The police responded to the scene and arrested Mićković, who has been in custody since then.

At the hearing on April 10, Pejović stated that Mićković had directed offensive and threatening language at her and made body movements simulating a sexual act, accompanied by words implying sexual violence.

During the same hearing, Mićković reiterated that he did not admit to the crime and did not feel guilty.

His defense attorney announced today that they would appeal the verdict.
