PODGORICA, 27 July 2026 – The High Misdemeanour Court overturned the ruling of the Podgorica Misdemeanour Court and fined cardiologist Vladimir Peruničić EUR 400 for insulting RTV Podgorica journalist Magdalena Čelanović.
The Podgorica Misdemeanour Court had previously acquitted Peruničić of charges of disturbing public order and peace after he sent insulting and vulgar messages in March 2026, while under the influence of alcohol, from his Instagram account to the inbox of RTV Podgorica’s morning programme, hosted by Čelanović.
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office appealed the ruling, as did lawyer Mirko Bošković, who represents Čelanović through the Journalists’ Safety Mechanism. Following their appeals, the High Misdemeanour Court found Peruničić guilty and imposed a fine.
