Journalist Jelena Jovanović from Vijesti reported several unknown individuals to the police on Friday, October 10, for stalking, endangering her safety, obstructing a journalist in the performance of their professional duties, and inciting racial and religious intolerance.
An unknown person had previously posted her photograph on the Facebook account “Niko Kater,” which was taken without her permission from her social media, along with a claim that Jovanović had been arrested. On the same day, Jovanović received a series of threatening messages in her inbox, including insults such as “traitor, get lost” and comments targeting her nationality. The journalist has been subjected to similar messages on social media for the past six years.
On November 30. police said that they filed a criminal complaint against M. K. from that town on suspicion that he endangered the safety of journalist.
