The Minister of Demography and Immigration, Ivan Šipić, in his Facebook post sharply attacked the media and journalists, particularly Jutarnji List columnist Ante Tomić. Šipić criticized the media for, as he claims, belittling the efforts he puts into his work and accused Tomić of being a “communist protégé” and a “bucket journalist,” referring to an incident in Split where an unknown attacker poured a bucket of excrement on Tomić.
The Croatian Journalists’ Association (CJA) quickly condemned Šipić’s outburst, calling it “scandalous” and “unacceptable.” CJA president Hrvoje Zovko stated that Šipić had painted a target on journalists and added that such statements could encourage further attacks on journalists.
