On December 25, a smear campaign was launched by tabloids close to the ruling regime against N1 television journalist Danica Vučenić, initiated by Večernje novosti and continued by other tabloids.
Večernje novosti published an article titled “SHOOT VUČIĆ – DANICA VUČENIĆ: What is controversial (VIDEO),” suggesting that Vučenić, after the arrest of journalist Aleksandar Dikić, stated in a conversation with his lawyer Ivan Ninić that she “sees nothing wrong” in the alleged call for violence. This claim is false and a blatant manipulation of the broadcast content.
The journalist did not state that she “sees nothing wrong” regarding an alleged call for the President’s assassination; rather, she asked the lawyer: “It is not clear why he is being charged with overthrowing the constitutional order, since we do not see that in the statement. What is this about?”
This deliberate twisting of her words is a classic example of tabloid propaganda, aimed at discrediting the journalist and inciting hostility toward the media outlet.
