The Association of Journalists of Kosovo – AJK, has received with concern the information regarding the lawsuit that the rapper Trim Ademi, known as Capital T, has filed against the journalist Robert Bojaj.
The rapper claims that a question asked by Bojaj to a guest on an entertainment show has damaged Ademi’s reputation. AJK considers this lawsuit to be a Strategic Lawsuit against Public Participation (SLAPP) and is an attempt to silence and intimidate the journalist.
People with social influence should show a higher level of tolerance regarding issues of public interest and should not abuse the right of access to justice. AJK has organized protection and legal representation for journalist Bojaj and today filed the response to the lawsuit at the Basic Court of Pristina.
We have full trust in the justice system and hope that the court will handle this case in accordance with the Council of Europe’s recommendation against SLAPP suits and establish a precedent in favor of the freedom of journalists to exercise their fundamental right to raise questions. AJK will closely monitor this court case.
