The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) has been informed about repeated incidents involving the cutting of internet cables in the building where the newsroom of the online media outlet “Paparaci” is located. Another disruption occurred today, marking at least the third such incident in a short period of time.
These acts have caused serious difficulties for the normal and uninterrupted work of the journalists and staff of the outlet. The newsroom had informed the Kosovo Police from the very beginning, while investigative teams were only deployed to the scene today.
AJK expresses concern over this form of obstruction targeting the work of the media outlet and its journalists, viewing it as an attempt to undermine free and independent reporting.
AJK calls on the Kosovo Police and the Prosecution to immediately investigate the case and identify the individual or individuals responsible for the deliberate cutting of the internet cables.
Such actions represent additional pressure on an already challenging environment for journalism. AJK remains committed to defending the right of journalists and media organizations to operate freely and without interference in carrying out their essential role of informing the public.
