The Basic Court in Pristina has found Mirvete Baraliu guilty of assault and making threats in connection with the attack on Lajmi.net journalists Fjolla Hyseni and Lindita Berisha.
The incident occurred in April 2024. Following the attack, both journalists sought medical treatment, while Lindita Berisha was pregnant at the time.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) welcomed the first-instance verdict, describing it as a positive outcome of its continued advocacy for accountability in cases involving attacks against journalists.
AJK called on the judicial system to ensure that other similar cases are also processed and concluded with appropriate sanctions. The Association further urged the courts to adopt stricter punitive measures against individuals who attack journalists while they are carrying out their professional duties in the public interest.
