PODGORICA, 31.03.2026. – The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has filed an indictment proposal with the Basic Court in the capital against Andrija Laković, on reasonable suspicion that he threatened Vijesti journalist Jelena Jovanović.
As reported by Vijesti, he is suspected of having sent threatening messages to the journalist via SMS on September 13, 2025, in Podgorica, thereby committing the criminal offence of endangering safety.
Jovanović received the anonymous threatening message from a phone number registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Jeco, fatso, your security is paid by the state, while I pay for mine. So think about who is safer, you or me — I’d hate for you to be disappointed, though it seems you’re heading that way. So, mention the company ***** once again in any future programme or in your ‘spying’, and next time you’ll be the one taking the loss, not my company. Whatever the cost,” the message reads, sent from the number +387644257387.
Following this, she told the police and the prosecution that she did not know who was behind the message, but that it could be any member of the organised criminal groups she has been reporting on for years. She also stated that she does not believe the threats originated from the Podgorica-based construction company mentioned in the message.
“Given the nature and content of the threats, as well as the circumstances of the case, the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office has, along with the indictment proposal, also requested an extension of the defendant’s detention,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
