Commenting on the news about the attack on Veran Matić in front of the Serbian Parliament, a person signed as “Serbian” sent a series of brutal insults and threats to Matić and the TV N1 newsroom, including calls for violence and direct death threats.
A few days before that, Veran Matić was physically attacked in front of the Serbian Parliament. The new threatening message is just one in a series of messages of a similar pattern that Matić, TV N1, and numerous other journalists and media outlets continuously receive.
It is a pattern in which anonymous individuals, encouraged by the absence of a systemic reaction from institutions, use the digital space to target, intimidate and target journalists.
