SKOPJE, 26.08.2019 – The Association of Journalists of Macedonia today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Economic Chamber of Macedonia. The purpose of signing the Memorandum is to make a significant step towards increasing the professionalism of online media.
The process which will be led by AJM, the Council of Media Ethics of Macedonia and the Economic Chamber will result with creation of a professional media registry, which will help the public, as well as the business community, to identify which media meet the criteria to be called media, respect the code of journalists in their work and have transparent ownership and impresum.
“There will be no place in this register for propaganda, fake news, as well as for anonymous editorials and editors,” Chadikovski said. According to him, the process of developing the criteria for the registry will be an inclusive process through holding consultative meetings with journalists, online media representatives and the business community, after which they will come to the best solutions.
“This type of categorization will also help the business community to know in which media they should advertise because they want to support this process as well, and at the same time they have a social responsibility to support the existence of quality media,” said Chadikovski.
