“In this case, as in many others, the police, in this instance the Split police, reported the person several times. Yet he continues to walk free without having faced any serious sanction, especially when we talk about repeated offences. As far as he is concerned, we will report him again. This act falls within the domain of criminal offences,” the minister said, adding:
“The police acted very quickly, located the individual, did their job, detained him, and now the entire matter is once again in the hands of our judicial system. I hope he will receive an appropriate sentence. I know that he also behaved violently inside the police station, which will be additionally sanctioned.”
Božinović also commented on a later fight at Ban Jelačić Square that same day.
“Groups of high school students from two schools in Split came to Zagreb. One group attended an educational visit at the Croatian National Bank, while another went to Interliber. Afterwards they went to the city centre, and a group of about twelve of them attacked others. It lasted a very short time. The police identified four individuals and brought them before a detention supervisor. However, only one person remains at the police station, while three minors are at the centre in Dugave. Their parents have been contacted, further proceedings will follow, and the criminal investigation is ongoing. This case, like the previous one, and the previous one is particularly telling, the individual who had already been detained five times and reported five times was yesterday in central Zagreb under heavy alcohol influence and attacked an N1 cameraman.”
