Journalist Katarina Stevanović from the Vreme weekly was physically prevented from working and forced to lie on the ground by police officers at an event in Novi Sad on September 5.

Although she was wearing a yellow vest clearly marked “Press”, the police made her lie on the ground for about 15 minutes.

“I followed the people who were in front of the Faculty of Philosophy. The group suddenly started to move. Two cordons of police followed them, from the side of Filozofsko and from the Quay, who pushed us. I clearly had a press vest on and said I was a journalist. They said they weren’t interested in it. I was also “Several emergency workers asked us if we were going to pump. They made us lie on the ground, put our hands on our backs. I asked if I could call the office, and they said no, and I shouldn’t take pictures.” After about 15 minutes, they singled her out with the words “come on, journalist”. They asked for her press card and identity card, took her information, and then called her superiors.
