The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Zrenjanin has filed a criminal complaint against Nemanja Šarović, a collaborator of KTV, on suspicion of the criminal offense of obstruction of justice. The complaint states that certain users left insulting comments under his Instagram post directed at the prosecution and the public prosecutor Dragana Mojsin, which, according to the allegations, could have affected her work.

For this criminal offense, the prescribed prison sentence is six months to five years, as well as the possibility of a fine. Critics point out that there have been no recorded cases so far in which someone was held criminally responsible for comments written by other, often anonymous, users on social networks. Because of this, the case is being interpreted in public as a potentially problematic precedent that could have negative consequences for freedom of expression.
