On 18 May, the RTCG portal reported that “Prva Banka” had filed a lawsuit against the public broadcaster RTCG before the Basic Court in Podgorica, alleging a violation of personality rights and seeking compensation for non-material damages.

The lawsuit, filed on 2 April, concerns a report broadcast in TVCG’s main news programme “Dnevnik”. The report, among other things, cited allegations made by the Network for the Affirmation of the NGO Sector (MANS) in 2014 that “Prva Banka” had “long been used by members of organised crime groups for laundering money obtained through criminal activities.”

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for non-material damages in the amount of EUR 7,000, plus statutory default interest from the date the lawsuit was filed. The claim also requests the cessation of further unlawful violations, an injunction against future violations, and the publication of the court ruling in RTCG’s main news programme “Dnevnik”, at RTCG’s expense.

“Prva Banka” has also filed lawsuits against MANS, as well as several other media outlets, civil society organisations and journalists in separate cases.
