Two residents of the village of Botun (Municipality of Zeta), initials B. Ć. and N. S., warned “Vijesti” journalist Nikola Saveljić on December 6 not to “provoke with questions” and said that he would “end up badly in the field, not those who sent him,” if he continued.

They did this after Saveljić, reporting from a local protest, asked a question to the leader of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP), Milan Knežević, who compared the journalist—after a follow-up question—to his aunt who “asks and then gives the answers herself.” After that, the two residents approached him and, in a very unpleasant tone, told him that the journalist was “working against them” and that it wasn’t the first time he had “provoked them,” claiming he had done the same earlier in Golubovci.

A similar incident occurred on September 13, when Saveljić asked questions during a press conference held by Knežević and the President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović. After the conference, two Botun residents approached him and threatened him in a similar manner, claiming he was working against them. One of those two threatened Saveljić again on December 6.

The journalist did not report either incident to the police.
