“Know that I’ll hunt you down until I get you off the list,” “I’m close to playing your finale,” “Well, your colleague was killed the other day in Cetinje by a sniper, so why wouldn’t I order one for you too”… These are just some of the latest threats that person signing as “Bane LA” sent to the editor-in-chief of M portal, Danica Nikolić. He has been sending death and rape threats to Nikolić’s official email address for three full years.
After multiple reports filed and all threatening emails forwarded to the police and prosecution, Nikolić, following her latest statement before the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, said she would no longer file complaints because the authorities already have enough material and know who is sending the threats from the email address [email protected]. She emphasized that all future developments in this case are the responsibility of the police and prosecution.
To recall, Nikolić received the first death threat from this address exactly three years ago, on September 10, 2022. Since then, a series of emails with new threats have targeted not only the M portal editor but also colleagues from other media outlets. The police sector for combating cybercrime quickly identified the person behind “Bane LA” and the location from which the threats were being sent, but despite established international communication in this case, no concrete results have been achieved to date.
In a series of emails sent today, “Bane LA” also explicitly announced his intention to come to Montenegro.
