The journalist team of TV Al Jazeera was attacked by the gendarmerie during the intervention of the police at the protest on 24/12/2023, in front of the City Assembly in Belgrade.
The cameraman Nenad Nešić was grabbed by the neck by a member of the gendarmerie and pulled, trying to move him and away, saying “what are you doing” and “you mustn’t film”. A video was recorded in which no direct physical attack can be seen, but the voices of journalist Jelena Glušac can be heard addressing the police officer asking him to stop the violence. The attack followed the cessation of most police activities and a shock wave against protesters.
The case has been recorded, but has not yet been officially reported.
