The Parliament of Albania has adopted the Resolution on the Activity of the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) for 2024.
The Parliament emphasized that the independence and pluralism of the media, as well as transparency in funding sources and ownership, are of particular importance for strengthening democracy and advancing European integration. It also emphasized the importance of audience measurement as a crucial tool for operators, ensuring transparency and the proper functioning of the audiovisual market in Albania.
For 2025, the Parliament recommended AMA to:
- Propose legal amendments to the Law on Audiovisual Media to regulate the measurement of institutional advertising volumes, in line with EU recommendations.
- Strengthen its monitoring capacity to address discrimination, hate speech, disinformation, and election-related content.
- Pay special attention to complaints concerning children’s rights and privacy, given the significant increase in such cases, and intensify media literacy activities.
- Require audiovisual media service providers to prepare accessibility action plans for persons with disabilities and ensure that AMA’s contact point for accessibility and complaints is fully functional and easily reachable.
The Parliament approved the resolution on 30 October 2025 and can be found here.
