Today, several photoshopped images surfaced on social media depicting the faces of certain Albanian journalists from Kosovo, as well as Kosovo leaders. These images are accompanied by fabricated messages with threatening content, including death threats, and have been falsely branded with the logo of the KoSSev portal.
The Kosovo Journalists’ Association (AGK) reported on these manipulated images, which falsely implicate media outlets from North Mitrovica, including KoSSev, and target Albanian journalists. AGK is still gathering information about these posts from social networks.
Some of the journalists targeted by these doctored images include Vehbi Kajtazi, Valon Sila, Berat Buzhala, and others. Notably, these journalists have previously been targeted by Kosovo authorities.
„In these images, the logo of Serbian independent media from North Mitrovica, such as KoSSev, is often falsely used. Additionally, the fabricated news includes outlets like Voice, Telegraph, Kosovo Today, and others,“ AGK stated.
AGK views this campaign as extremely dangerous for journalists and media, and urges the Kosovo police and the cybercrime unit to urgently investigate the origin of these posts and prevent their further dissemination.
In a follow-up informal conversation with AGK, it was revealed that these photoshopped images have also included certain Kosovo leaders, such as Albin Kurti and Behgjet Pacolli, featuring dangerous and inappropriate content.
Both KoSSev and AGK have decided not to publish these manipulated images due to their highly disturbing nature. The incident has been reported to the Serbian Journalists’ Association (NUNS), and will also be reported to other European and global media associations.
