Večernje novosti correspondent Jelena Stojković was attacked on July 22, 2025, while reporting on a fire at the Meteris landfill near Vranje.

Stojković was carrying out her journalistic duties when the director of the Komrad Public Utility Company from Vranje, Zoran Dimitrijević, arrived at the scene. He first told her that “filming was prohibited,” and then physically attacked the journalist, grabbed her arm, and took away the mobile phone she was using to record video.

The police were notified of the incident, and took statements from witnesses who confirmed the physical attack on journalist Stojković.
