BERANE, 05.12.2025 – The trial of Nikola Raičević and Milić Ralević, who are charged with the criminal offence of coercion to the detriment of Vijesti photojournalist Boris Pejović, was today postponed at the Basic Court in Berane due to the absence of the defendant Ralević.

The incident occurred in August, in the village of Gornje Zaostro near Berane, during the removal of the monument to Chetnik commander and war criminal Pavle Đurišić, when several dozen people who attended the event attacked Pejović and Pobjeda photojournalist, Stevo Vasiljević.

In addition to Raičević, separate proceedings are being conducted before the Basic Court in Berane against Danko Femić for the same criminal offence, as well as before the Misdemeanour Court against five other persons. Raičević and Femić are charged with the qualified form of the criminal offence of coercion, which implies stricter penalties when media workers are attacked, and which, at the initiative of the Trade Union of Media of Montenegro (TUMM) and Human Rights Action (HRA), was incorporated into the Criminal Code in 2022.

At today’s hearing, Judge Ivan Došljak stated that the court had yesterday received a letter from Milić in which he explained that, due to an urgent family obligation, he was unable to attend, and that for this reason today’s hearing could not be held.

The hearing has been postponed to 12 December, and the summons for Ralević will be delivered through the police in order to secure his presence.
