During the citizens’ protest in Kraljevo on July 29, police officers assaulted Nova S and N1 television correspondent Nenad Jovanović and cameraman Dragan Jeković.

When members of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) began throwing various objects, firecrackers, and water at the gathered citizens in front of the SNS premises, the police started pushing back the crowd but did not intervene to stop the attacks coming from the ruling party’s office. During this, one police officer struck cameraman Jeković multiple times with a baton, despite Jeković clearly stating that he was part of a media crew on assignment.

Jeković had no opportunity to retreat, as he was pinned against a kiosk and planters. Due to the blows, Jeković dropped his camera at one point, but fortunately, there was no significant damage.

A complaint has been filed regarding the conduct of a police officer to the Internal Control Sector of the Ministry of the Interior.
