The chief and responsible editor of the Regional Information Agency JUGpress, Ljiljana Stojanović, received warning messages regarding her security from persons connected to the security structures.

As Stojanović announced on social networks, she was warned that “a set-up” was being prepared for her and to “be careful”, which caused concern for her personal safety, as well as the safety of the members of the newsroom and her family.

The Permanent Working Group for Security was also informed about these warnings.

Although the warning was not expressed as a direct threat, in the context of the current socio-political environment, such messages represent a serious form of pressure, especially when they come from structures that should guarantee the safety of citizens.

Ljiljana Stojanović and the editorial staff of JUGpress have been suffering various forms of pressure for years, including threats, intimidation, media campaigns by pro-government tabloids, SLAPP lawsuits, as well as financial and institutional discrimination.
